The receivers admitted a clear-cut plan largely based on rational not to mention fascist principles starting with the austerity of the pixel grid of such a layout. It derives from the large x-heights and readability of the humanist typeface tradition yet fulfils more subtle aspects within the characters conveying a kind of rhythm to texts that are to be read.
However, Bitter has very small differences in stroke weight, and the ‘Regular’ variant is more heavy in weight as compared to common ‘Regular’ style for print media. This produces a high contrast in the texts in the paragraphs, further enhanced by serifs as thick as the strokes and having square terminals.
