For his part, Firmin Didot was an illustrious French typewriter. In a project of type design in 1805, that embraced the élitist neoclassical aesthetic of France in the last quarter of the eighteenth century Fantoni was able to create a Greek font that another modern Greek publisher, Adamantios Korai’s immediately adopted as well as enlightened Greek scholar of Greek Enlignment like Korai himself in Greece when they were fighting their revolution in 1821. This is an elaborate version that Ambroise Firmin Didot took with an open press into Greece in this era.
Didot’s font was literally unbeatable at the time, which made it the go-to font for nearly all types of publications for the better part of the twentieth century. GFS Didot 1994 another typeface that was unveiled by the team of Takis Katsoulidis while the digitization was in the hands of George Matthiopoulos was offshoot of this success story.
