STANLEY MORISON in his Oxford University Press Oxford 1950 book entitled: The leaves Roman Italic & Black Letter Left by Dr. John FELL to Oxford Printing House (1950) contain the following descriptions about FELL types; Oxford Printing house possesses one of England’s oldest punches & matrixes, material that is well-cherished & in active service; the forms & its kinds used in the production of books & other printed needful are thus made available & or printed at Oxford Printing House.

John Fell, D. D. The above man died at the age of sixty-one and seven on the 10th of July in the year 1686 In Oxford, he employed valuable equipment creating a ”learned press” with a benchmark on quality print. This is indirectly owing to the fact of it having been his will which bequeathed this legacy.
