Sumana is a typeface that is part of the family of Latin and Devanagari text setting and web fonts designed by Alexei Vanyashin for Cyreal in 2014-2015; The Latin font of Sumana was designed by Olga Karpushina for Cyreal (Lora). Both vertical and horizontal dimensions were altered for better fit for Devanagari script; the name of this script means ‘flowers’ directly and some of the translations suggest that this can be flowers in Spanish language as well.
Ensuring that each script matched the graphic characteristics that I had in mind was not easy; it required a few trials of modifying before coming up with the final version. I had intended to make Devanagari closer to the traditional Indian calligraphy while making some graphic decisions based on Lora’s Latin.
