Old Standard TT Font Family

Old Standard recreates a certain kind of a Modern (classicist) style of serif typefaces, which had been applied in numerous editions of the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th centuries but was abandoned in the next period. it can be considered to be a good choice while typesetting scientific papers, particularly those on social and humanitarian sciences as its specific characteristics are linked in people’s mind with old books one used to study from.
all the best examples of Greek and Cyrillic lettertypes have been created in the framework of the classicist style, so for these scripts, the “Modern” fonts are more suitable than any contemporary (e. g. Times-based) designs.

The name “Old Standard” was chosen instead of the “Obyknovennaya Novaya” (“New Standard”) typeface, which is characteristic of Soviet typography and belongs to another, though slightly different type of the Modern style.
