Árida is a tribute to the city of San Juan in Argentina, which is located in the semi-desert Cuyo region where cacti are common; one of the features of arid environments. Árida, being the vegetation of the place its inspiration, looks intense and aggressive at a large scale but it also feels friendly at a smaller one—showing the contrast between humans and nature.
Árida is made in 5 weights, from Regular (with a matching italic) to Black. The Regular variant has 773 glyphs while the Italic one contains 939. The font is also equipped with small caps, different styles of figures, ligatures and stylistic as well as contextual alternates among others OpenType features.
