Currently, Cairo is an Arabic/Latin typeface designed by Mohamed Gaber and launched as a Latin typeface based on Titillium Internet but is developed to support the Arabic script as well. Kufi typeface is the main inspiration with the appearance of the city’s name, and the shape resembles a CAIRO figure.
Cairo has elements of both modern and traditional designs, with widest counter areas vertically scaled at a more compact size which limits length but also makes the text easy to read. While thin weights can be suitable for the body copy, strong thickness would be appropriate for heading and display type.
Most of the writing is written in thin fonts while bold fonts are appropriate for headlines.
Each type face brings in certain stylistic ligatures and as for the Arabic part, it’s endowed with several glyphs for the languages including Arabic, Farsi as well as Urdu languages.
