It was developed by Luc(as) de Groot for the use in conjunction with Microsoft’s ClearType font rendering technology. Consolas has been a part of Microsoft’s Clear Type Font Collection since Windows Vista, Microsoft Office 2007 and Visual Studio 2010; users can download it from Microsoft. In addition, Consolas is one of the four Vista only fonts which has a zero in the form of a slash that is placed between each number.
The following Open Type layout features are supported in Consolas: Stylistic alternatives; Locale variants; Uppercase sensitive for models; Old style figures and other older style characters; Lines; Random fractions; Superscript; Subscript.
