Crimson Text Font Family

Crimson Text is an oldstyle serif typeface designed for book use, with a particular focus on the tradition of typographical design. There are a lot of great free fonts around, but one kind is missing: those Garamond-inspired types with all the little niceties that include oldstyle figures, small caps, fleurons, math characters and the like. On the contrary, much time is spent in creating free imitations of the rather disgusting ‘standard’ fonts such as Times and Helvetica.

Crimson Text is based on works of Jan Tschichold, Robert Slimbach, and Jonathan Hoefler and other passionate people. Our wish is that the free type community will be able to use Crimson Text in the future as both beautiful and functional.

Some important changes done in march 2022 includes fixing of bugs; the most important one being the alignment of the line space of all the styles.
