El Messiri is a contemporary Arabic font designed by Mohamed Gaber (Arabic). Inspired by Jovanny Lemonad’s Latin and Cyrillic typeface Philosopher, its Arabic counterpart evolved with broad counters for enhanced readability of smaller font sizes as well as subtle features which make it suitable as display font for larger dimensions. The creation process began from an idea for an elegant curvy Arabic typeface inspired by Naskh design and created using brush rather than pencil for enhanced curvature reminiscent of Naskh design; then further developed using wide counters which enhance its readability while simultaneously offering subtle features for display purposes on larger dimensions.
El Messiri comes in four weights – Light Regular, Regular and Bold). Additionally, El Messiri features Arabic support with over 80 glyphs covering Arabic, Farsi and Urdu languages.
