On October 12th, 1976, a new basilica was inaugurated to honor and thank the Patron Saint, the Virgin of Guadalupe, adored by the Mexican people. This basilica was designed by the Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, who passed away April 16th, 2012. In certain way it is meant his soaring, spacious interior, hedonistically plastered with bronze elements.
The visual worth of these even involves a great deal of signs and textual content inscriptions with a special typeface and style, both as this font. This fine design isn’t create to pass any particular mensage, it’s rather a reinterpretation of the Rodchenko’s font for the ecclesiastical written letter. The project purpose is to revive these written letter types in bronze format and bring them to digital platform. I was inspired to this in my last trip to Mexico in September of 2012.
