PT Serif™ is the second multi-script font family designed for the project “Public Types of the Russian Federation. ” PT Sans is the first font family of the project that was released in 2009. The fonts are released with a libre license and can be freely redistributed: Thus, the major goal of the project is to provide the people of Russia an opportunity to read and write in their native languages.
The project is devoted to the 300 year anniversary of the civil type which was established by Peter the Great in 1708-1710. It has received its funding from the Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications.
They are standard Western, Central European, Cyrillic, and all the characters of every title language in the Russian Federation. This makes them a unique and very important tool in today’s digital communication.
