PT Serif™ is the second pan-Cyrillic font family designed for the project “Public Types of the Russian Federation. ” The first one, PT Sans, was issued in 2009. The fonts are released with a libre license and can be freely redistributed: The primary goal of the project is to provide an opportunity for people of Russia to read and write in their native languages.
The project is devoted to celebrate the 300 year anniversary of the civil type that Peter the Great created in 1708-1710. It has been funded by the Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications.
The fonts are standard Western, Central European and Cyrillic code pages and all characters of title languages in Russian Federation. This makes them a unique and very important tool for the contemporary digital communication.
The family consists of six styles: In Calibri, the two basic styles are regular and bold weights with contrasting colors.
