Slovic (Словик) Cyrillic typeface offers a glimpse of the Cyrrillic typography to the viewer, the audience. Analyzing the control slider of the variable font it is possible to understand how it transforms during certain period. Slovic starts from a prototype that combines typical features of the Old Church Slavonic script and is more precise based on the studied styles, for example, Ustav (Cyrillic uncial) and Vyaz (Cyrillic ornate lettering).
The second design is based on some of these details and classical serif typeface solutions. Slovic proceeds to the next level of stylistic development, it moves from the classical slab serif, through semi-serif and reaches sans. Slovic is to include and extrapolate a number of proportions and styles, with particular emphasis on several stylistic options and an additional Latin alphabet, making the type family as versatile and applicable as possible.
This project is only the first step, the declaration of a number of various and more profound investigations in the context of Cyrillic script.
