UnifrakturMaguntia was developed using Peter Wiegel’s Font Berthold Mainzer Fraktur that may have been based on Carl Albert Fahrenwaldt’s typeface of 1901 called Carl Albert Fahrenwaldt typeface. Albeit it has the same glyphs as Unifraktur, UnifrakturMaguntia makes use of the right font technologies such as OpenType, Apple Advanced Typography and SIL Graphite in order to support the ligatures of OpenType, Apple Advanced Typography and SIL Graphite.
An example would include the use of fantastic typography using blackletters among which are necessary ligatures like ch ck which are retained when letterspacing rises; unlike standard ligatures like (fi, fl).
UnifrakturMaguntia was developed for the Web and supports the current standards while the typeface is released under the permissive license.
