The first typeface launched in 2004 by Yanone was the Yanone Cafesatz, and hence Yanone started his career in typography. Recalling the tr’app apparell itself which seemed to me to be taken from coffee house of the thousand and two hundred period albeit stylised by very thin forms Yanone decided to release the entire family under the Creative Commons License but though he was a novice at variety he did so.
The current typeface, which is dominated by black and white lines, was created in 2009, although some of the designer’s fans criticized him; he updated a very large part of it that same year. It was then released within FontShop FontFont Library under the new name, FF Kava – at least, if someone learnt more about it in the article by Yves Peters within FontFeed.
