Zara, established by Amancio Ortega around 1941 in Spain, is one of the flagship brands within Inditex Group; we must make this point known here. Within Inditex are other chain store brands such as Massimo Dutti, Breshka and 3 more that must also be mentioned here as prominent members.
Zara was named after Zorba the Greek’s film with the same title; unfortunately for Ortega there was already an existing store with this same name nearby and had no choice but to change his business due to purchasing its door template; Zara became his final selection.
Zara initially led the field in affordable clothing production. When their initial store became popular and successful, more Zara stores opened across Spain – marking a new chapter in Zara history.
