Twitter is a web based micro blogging service that allows users to send and receive messages called tweets that are limited to 140 characters in length. Originally launched as an electronic technology network for posting short messages in July 2006 by Evan Williams, Biz Stone, Noah Glass and Jack Dorsey as an open social network that became one of the most popular sites for exactly this purpose – posting short messages today is still one of the main functions of Twitter.
The lettering for the logo of Twitter was created with the help of the Pico Alphabet font from Maniackers Design with some changes. Pico Alphabet is also available in black and white for logo purposes.
Update: Twitter introduced a new logo in 2012 featuring the “Twitter Bird”. The word “Twitter” and the lowercase letter “t” are now no longer used.
